Why sharpen blades?

What are the indicators that show I need to sharpen my blades?
A: Cut quality deteriorates
A: Feed pressures increase
A: Wood products will tend to burn or cause pitch build up on blade
A: Plastics will chip and or melt
A: Aluminum will get hot as the blade dulls and cause aluminum to adhere to the carbide
Approximately how many times can a blade be sharpened?
A: This depends on the size of the orginal carbide tip used on the new saw as well as the dullness of the blade when it is resharpened. Given, as an example, a 10” x 60T carbide tipped saw and normal service rotation, you can expect approximately 30 sharpenings on a blade.
What is the approximate turnaround time for blade sharpening?
A: Approximately 1 week, rush orders can be performed for an additional fee.
What would make a blade unrepairable?
A: Carbide to worn out (small) for grinding.
A: Plate is cracked or shoulder is broken.
A: Blade is rainbowed or burnt
A: Plate is “warped” or “dished” beyond repair
When is it just better to buy a new blade?
A: When the cost of repair is within 25% of the price of a new blade.
A: If the carbide has become so small that clearance angles are inadequate causing premature poor quality cuts.
Is there a local pick up and drop off for blades?
A: Saw & Specialty Corporation has a Pick Up and Delivery Servcie for industrial accounts for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Monroe counties as well as the I94 corridor to Kalamazoo, the M31 corridor from Douglas to Muskegon and the I96 corridor from Muskegon to Detroit
